2 Ways I’ve Curbed My Binge Eating

I’ve hit a plateu in my journey to losing weight. I started of t around 270lbs back in November of 2018, and have been able to slowly but surely get my way down to around 180lbs in the spring of 2023. However, two things were making it hard for me to continue losing weight further:

  1. I was injured from an over injury, and
  2. I was binge eating.

At some point, you just can’t out-exercise a bad diet. And my diet involves binge eating. And I’ve done it almost all my 29 years of living.

But, What is “Binge Eating,” Actually?

Let’s start with the holy grail for therapists, the DSM-V-TR (aka the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Illness”) to decide whether or not someone has binge eating disorder.

In order to be diagnosed with binge eating disorder, the following criteria must be met:

One must experience recurrent episodes of binge eating. What constitutes as an “episode” of binge eating includes both of the following:

- Eating, in a discrete period of time (for example, any 2-hour period), an amount of food that is definitely larger than what most people would eat in a similar period of time under similar circumstances
